Children’s Theater Is Blooming!

By on August 30, 2011

Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, the leader of the pack in children’s programming, is offering the South Florida community a bright 2011-2012 Season full of entertainment and cultural enrichment for the whole family.

Located in the heart of Coral Gables, the award-winning Actors’ Playhouse Musical Theatre for Young Audiences presents a unique and exciting five-show season related to classic children’s literary works. Featuring adult professional actors, this year’s line up includes Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!, Madeline’s Christmas, Alexander Who’s Not Not Not Not Not Going To Move!, The National Children’s Theatre Festival Winner which will feature a brand new children’s musical chosen from Actors’ Playhouse national call to competition, and the classic Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs scheduled over the summer.

Acting builds character on and off the stage. Actors’ Playhouse has developed the highest caliber of youth programming, which has created Broadway careers for talented artists as well as outstanding learning developmental experiences for children of all ages. Children’s Director Earl Maulding, who has developed and directed the program for more than 20 years, has seen the effect the curriculum has had on students. Some past alumni include: Sean Patrick Doyle, who just performed on Broadway as Chantal in La Cage Aux Folles; Joanie Leeds, star of the NYC “kindie rock” scene, who was recently spotlighted in People Magazine; and Nicholas Turner Martin who just wrapped the fi lm Dolphin Tale featuring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Harry Connick Jr.

Millions of children have participated in Actors’ Playhouse’s youth programs in twenty-four years, thanks in part to the nonprofit theatre company’s commitment to creating exceptional outreach programs for the community. Opportunities for your young performers to bask in the spotlight include The Actors’ Playhouse Theatre Conservatory (Ages 5–Adult), Children’s Summer Theatre Camp(Ages 7–18), and The Musical Miracles Youth Repertory Company(Ages 10–18).
